Stroud Wedding Photographer in Gloucestershire

As a Stroud wedding photographer based in Gloucestershire, I photograph weddings across Stroud, Nailsworth, Painswick and the surrounding Cotswolds countryside

If you're planning a wedding in Stroud or the surrounding countryside, you're in one of the most beautiful parts of Gloucestershire to get married.

I’m Zara, a Stroud wedding photographer, and I’ve lived here for over ten years. This area isn’t just somewhere I travel to for work — it’s home. I know the light, the seasons, and the quiet corners that make it so special for weddings.

My approach is relaxed and documentary-led, capturing the natural flow of your day — the laughter, emotion, and atmosphere — alongside a small number of gently guided, editorial-style portraits that feel effortless and timeless.

Why Choose a Local Stroud Wedding Photographer

Choosing a photographer who knows Stroud well can make a real difference to how your day flows.

Having lived here for a decade, I’ve photographed weddings across the Stroud district and understand how to work with the changing light, the landscapes, and the unique character of each venue. Whether it’s a countryside barn, a historic building, or a more intimate setting, I know how to make the most of each space without overcomplicating things.

I’m also always happy to suggest nearby portrait locations, quiet backdrops, or hidden spots if your venue has limited outdoor space — something that often comes from years of local experience.

Stroud Wedding Venues I’ve Photographed

The Stroud district offers such a variety of wedding venues, from relaxed rural settings to elegant historic spaces.

Some of the local venues I’ve worked at (and around) include:

Each venue has its own rhythm and feel, and part of my role is to work with that naturally — not to impose anything that feels staged or forced.

My Approach to Wedding Photography

I photograph weddings in a way that allows you to stay present.

Most of the day is captured quietly as it unfolds — the in-between moments, the interactions, the atmosphere — rather than constant direction. When it comes to couple portraits, I keep things simple and relaxed, so you’re not taken away from your guests for long.

The result is a gallery that feels like your day, rather than a version of it.

Stroud & Cotswolds Weddings

Stroud sits right on the edge of the Cotswolds, which means you have access to some of the most beautiful landscapes in the UK — rolling hills, soft stone buildings, and that unmistakable golden light.

Whether you're getting married in Stroud itself or nearby areas like Nailsworth, Painswick, or Minchinhampton, the setting naturally lends itself to romantic, timeless imagery.

Planning Your Stroud Wedding

If you're still early in your planning, I’m always happy to help with timings, light considerations, or how your day might flow — especially if you're unsure how long to allow for things like portraits or travel between locations.

And if your venue is somewhere new to me, I’ll always visit in advance so everything feels smooth and considered on the day.

Popular Wedding Venues in Stroud

Stroud and the surrounding villages are home to some of the most sought-after wedding venues in Gloucestershire, each with its own distinct feel.

Kingscote Barn is one of the most popular choices in the area, set within rolling countryside with beautiful views across the valley. It has a relaxed, rural feel while still being well considered in its layout and flow, which makes it ideal for natural, documentary-style photography.

Eastington Park offers something slightly more elegant, with its Georgian manor house and surrounding gardens. It works particularly well for couples wanting a balance between classic and relaxed, with plenty of space for both indoor and outdoor moments.

Owlpen Manor is a truly unique setting — quietly tucked away and full of character. It has a more intimate, almost hidden feel to it, which lends itself beautifully to smaller weddings and those wanting something a little different.

The Wool Barn near Frampton is another beautiful nearby venue, full of rustic character with its exposed stone and beams. It has a really relaxed, countryside feel, while still offering a clean, timeless backdrop that works effortlessly for natural, story-led photography.

And closer to home for me, The Saxon Barn in Leonard Stanley (where I live) is a lovely local venue with a warm, understated atmosphere. Being so familiar with the area means I know how best to use the surrounding space and light here without needing to overthink things on the day.

Each of these venues offers something slightly different, but all sit within the same beautiful Stroud landscape — which naturally lends itself to relaxed, romantic imagery.

Spring weddings bring fresh greenery, blossom and soft countryside colours, making it a wonderful time for romantic outdoor ceremonies.

Summer weddings are popular for their long evenings and golden sunset light across the hills, perfect for relaxed drinks receptions and evening portraits.

Autumn weddings are particularly magical in the Cotswolds, with warm colours across the countryside and beautiful soft light for photography.

Winter weddings create a cosy and intimate atmosphere, especially in historic manor houses and barn venues with candlelight and fireplaces.

Stroud Wedding Photographer – Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a Stroud wedding photographer cost?

Wedding photography in Stroud can vary depending on coverage and experience, but most full-day photographers typically range from around £1,200 to £2,500+.

I offer both full-day coverage and shorter options for smaller weddings, so everything can be tailored depending on your plans. If you’d like a bespoke quote, just get in touch and I can guide you through what might suit best.

Do you cover weddings across Stroud and the surrounding areas?

Yes — I’m based in Stroud and have lived here for over ten years, with my family rooted in the area for more than 25 years.

I regularly photograph weddings across the Stroud district and nearby Cotswolds locations including Nailsworth, Painswick, Minchinhampton and the surrounding countryside.

Have you photographed at my venue before?

There’s a good chance I have, as I’ve worked at many venues across Stroud and the wider Gloucestershire area.

If I haven’t, I’ll always visit ahead of time so I can get a feel for the space, the light, and how your day will flow — so everything feels seamless on the day itself.

What is your photography style?

My approach is relaxed and documentary-led, focusing on capturing natural moments as they happen.

Alongside this, I gently guide a number of portraits — keeping things quick, easy, and comfortable so you’re not away from your guests for long. The overall feel is natural, romantic, and timeless, without anything overly posed.

Do you offer coverage for elopements and micro weddings in Stroud?

Yes, I do.

Stroud is a beautiful place for smaller, more intimate weddings, and I offer flexible coverage for elopements and micro weddings — whether that’s a short registry office ceremony or a few hours in the countryside. Check out my elopements page for more information.

How long do we need a photographer for our wedding?

It depends on how much of the day you’d like captured.

For full-day weddings, most couples choose around 8–10 hours to cover everything from preparations through to the evening. For smaller weddings, shorter coverage is often perfect.

I’m always happy to help you plan this so it fits naturally around your day.

Do you help with timings and planning?

Yes — I’m always happy to help.

Having photographed many weddings in and around Stroud, I can offer guidance on timings, light, and how the day might flow, particularly when it comes to fitting in portraits without disrupting things.

How long does it take to receive our photos?

Your full gallery is usually delivered within 6–8 weeks, depending on the time of year.

I also send a small preview shortly after your wedding so you have something to look back on while you wait for the full set.

How do we book you as our Stroud wedding photographer?

If you feel my approach might suit your plans, just get in touch to check availability.

From there, I’ll send over everything you need to book, and I’m always happy to arrange a relaxed video call if you’d like to chat things through first.
