A romantic wedding in Peterborough Cathedral - Alicia and Matt

When Alicia and Matt first spoke to me about their wedding, I was so super excited that they were planning to wed in a historic cathedral. They planned the most inspiring, traditional wedding with the whole day taking place inside the cathedral. Alicia and Matt are the loveliest couple and I couldn’t wait for their big day.
Bridal Prep
I started at Alicia’s family home where the bridal party were getting ready and it was such a chilled morning, complete with a very calm Bassett hound called Bella! Alicia wore a classic white dress reminiscent of Kate Middleton’s to Prince William. The bridesmaids also wore Emerald Green velvet. Matt worse a traditional long tailed suit along with his groomsmen.
Ceremony
The ceremony took place inside the Cathedral, with its long nave leading to the high alter where the Dean conducted the service. A few readings by family and friends and hymns by the choir made a magical atmosphere, before the register was signed and the couple were blessed at the high alter. The service concluded with the long walk down the aisle to outside where I arranged guests into a confetti tunnel before photographing family groups outside the entrance which was adorned with the most spectacular flower installation by Vincent Stubbs Florist.
Drinks reception was held next door in a garden where guests mingled in the sunshine enjoying drinks and canapes whilst I photographed candid style photos and a few remaining family groups before everyone walked back over to the Cathedral for a big surprise!
Wedding Breakfast
As everyone sat in their places, the bride announced a surprise in honour of her grandmother – a performance of Swan Lake in the middle of the nave. The spectacular and moving performance entranced all the guests and received the biggest round of applause which reverberated throughout the space.
Speeches began before food was served. Afterward, we were treated to a wonderful sunset so Alicia, Matt, The videographer and myself snuck outdoors to capture those golden moments.
Evening Reception
As the evening commenced, we took some couple portraits under the magnificent fan vaulting at the back of the cathedral before the couple went back to their guests for cake cutting, leading on to the first dance as the Cathedral lights were lowered and the band commenced the evening entertainment. The dance floor was full, the guests overjoyed ad the bride and groom absolutely beamed with happiness.
Honestly, this is a wedding I will never forget for all the right and most beautiful reasons

We first met Zara at a wedding fair and could tell she was the perfect photographer to capture our wedding in Peterborough Cathedral with a love of history and Cathedrals herself, as well as dogs!
She travelled all the way to Peterborough from the Cotswolds and was there for the rehearsal the day before to get a better idea of the venue and the area.
We are still so blown away by Zara's photos. She captured the best day of our lives so beautifully with stunning shots of the venue, ceremony and reception, as well as our fur baby. We honestly could not recommend Zara more, if you are looking for a photographer book her- You will not regret it and her stunning photos will have you in tears! So so talented and she even helped me bustle my wedding dress and got the preview wedding shots with us days after the wedding... just amazing.
