Hi and welcome! You can’t have helped to have heard the GDPR acronym bandied about lately and wondered what it was. GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) is a European privacy law that comes into effect in May 2018 and is intended to strengthen and unify data protection for all individuals within the EU.
Personal data I collect
As you have seen on my contact form, I collect names, phone numbers, email addresses and messages from yourself for the purposes of general communication. Later on, I may ask for your address so I can post contracts and photographs to you. Why do I collect this information? Basically so I can talk to you and later on, post those stunning photographs to you J
How I collect and keep your personal data
The contact form message comes through to a secure, password protected email address with no silly, obvious passwords but ones that are so complex I can barely remember them – we’ve all been there right?! At no point is a password ever written down so your information and communication is completely safe.
If you enquire but do not book (sad face), data will be deleted after your wedding date has come and gone and when the pain of rejection has subsided.
Blog & social media commenting
I have a blog and use social media (in a rather sporadic manner!). If you comment on it, is public so everyone can see I so please do not include any personal information. I will not post any images with your faces on without your written consent (see Use of your face-based data)
Right of confirmation, access, rectification and erasure
If you have any questions on how your data is handled, please do drop me a line at
I’m happy to show you the data that I have on you (which is basically what you have filled in on the form or replied to me via email). If any of the information is wrong, just let me know and I’ll correct it. I do keep some information on clients for photo storage purposes online and off, so I can find your photos that are stored on a harddrive in secure premises or you need help with the private online gallery (the dreaded forgotten password scenario). If you would like your basic information (such as email address) deleted, pop me an email on the address above.
Use of your data
Use of your data is for my business use only and never given to anyone else without your prior permission. For example, you wanted a recommendation for a wedding cake supplier and are happy for me to pass your email address on (again ONLY with your written permission).
Other date would be details of your wedding written in an email or the contract which is again, kept securely in locked premises.
Use of your face-based data
Stating the obvious I know, but as your photographer I will be taking photographs of you. All images are stored on a password-protected harddrive, in secure, locked premises. There’s also a slightly mad canine resident that does his best to deter any nasties with his habit of leaving toys and bones to be tripped over.
I do ask permission regarding posting images on my website or on social media beforehand. All of this will be in the contract if you book me (yay!) so you will also have a copy of this.
Sadly not of the delicious variety but of the not-so-tasty electronic variety. Cookies are small pieces of data stored on a site visitor's browser, usually used to keep track of their movements and actions on a site. These are active on my website and help me track what pages are being used so I can tailor it. This information is only used for analytical purposes.
I use Google Analytics for the cookie-bit above
My website is hosted by Wix.com which is fully GDPR compliant.
Your private online gallery is hosted by pixieset.com and they are also fully GDPR compliant.
I’m hoping the above wasn’t as boring to read as it was to write it! Okay, it probably was and I think you are amazing to have got through to the end! On a final note, if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to get in contact!
