14 Wedding Venues in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire
Choosing a venue for the biggest day of your life is aways difficult with so many options to choose from. As a wedding photographer, I've been to a good number of them already so here I've listed my favourites (in no particular order)...
A historic and landmark spa hotel with sweeping views over the iconic Cheltenham Racecourse, this magnificent 15th Century venue is one of Cheltenham’s most popular Wedding Venues and it's not hard to see why! Please check out Ingrid and Steve’s wedding here to see some amazing photographs for yourselves. I can also vouch for how lovely and dedicated the wedding team is here and I’ve marvelled at how they can cover both traditional and contemporary styles of ceremonies whilst giving each a unique touch.
Simply gorgeous and an absolutely delightful and impressive Victorian-style mansion in the heart of Cheltenham – not that you would know it with its vast attractive gardens and lake, it’s not hard to see why this venue is so popular! There are so many options of where to have your ceremony from outside by the Victorian arches to the Italian Pavilion to the ballroom to a traditional wood-panelled period room. I’d highly recommend viewing, as there are so many options to create a unique and perfect day for you both.
A quintessentially Cotswolds Barn, located just outside of Cheltenham in the beautiful countryside this venue ticks every box for those who are drawn to the great outdoors as well as those looking for a chic, boho-inspired look.
It’s an exclusive use venue with a number of barns for use, onsite accommodation (including glamping options) and the grounds are a photographers dream!
Pittville Pump Room & Cheltenham Town Hall
The Cheltenham Trust runs both so I’ve put these two together. Each is a simply sumptuous and iconic venue in its own right. From the exquisite Georgian pump rooms with its colonnades and park views to the landmark Town Hall both are distinctive and captivating landmarks in the town. They have an online brochure, which is well worth checking out. Both also hold wedding fairs (I’m always at the Town Hall one), which will hopefully start again soon!
A beautiful boutique Georgian Town House Hotel in the centre of Cheltenham, No 131 definitely has a distinct contemporary chic feel and marvellously mixes both tradition and modern elegance. With numerous sister properties and hotels, accommodation for your guests won’t be an issue and it’s style will certainly impress.
A simply resplendent and stunning Elizabethan manor house located just a few miles from the centre of Cheltenham in the glorious countryside of the Cotswolds, this venue is also perfect for getting some stunning wedding photos.
With the opportunity of exclusive use, this hotel and spa really is a dream for couples looking to mix history, countryside romance and luxury for their big day. Viewing is highly recommended!
No Cheltenham Wedding Venue list is complete without the iconic Sudeley Castle! With unparalleled beauty and history, this venue is one of my firm favourites. The castle goes back to the 13th Century and was once home to Queen Elizabeth I and is the resting place of Katherine Parr, a Tudor Queen of England who is buried in the onsite chapel. It is simply (as their website also states) one of THE most romantic places in England. With dramatic ruins and beautiful gardens, the photo opportunities here are simply endless. If you are looking for a castle venue this one is simply flawless.
Situated on Cleeve Hill, the views from here are one of the best in the whole district! On a clear day you can see over into Wales and up to the Malverns. It’s a perfect location for more intimate weddings and the team here are wonderfully dedicated, down to earth and helpful which is what every couple needs for their big day. This traditional Cotswolds stone building also offers onsite accommodation and catering so everything is in one place. I highly recommend viewing if like me, you love a nice view!
I have a soft spot for this place as I worked here for a summer before going off to university when it was known as Hotel Kandinsky. Malmaison is a distinctive Georgian townhouse that Cheltenham is renowned for and is located near Cheltenham Ladies College in the centre of town in the fashionable Montpellier district. I highly recommend viewing the garden room, as this was a very popular area for intimate weddings.
A luxury wedding venue with pricing ranging from £30k upwards, this 17th-century estate is an exceptional venue for those with a larger budget. The venue has a beautiful and striking mix of classic English country garden with an Italian Renaissance feel that your guests will delight in. With a sumptuous and private garden, which showcases the best of the Cotswolds countryside, this remarkable family-run site will simply take your breath away.
Situated on a working farm, just outside of Cheltenham is Slacks Barn, a large open space that is perfect if you are looking for a blank canvas to make your mark whilst also enjoying the Cotswolds views. This is a fairly new venue with some excellent reviews so please do contact the owners for more information.
A beautiful and charming Cotswolds 17th century Mill on the outskirts of Cheltenham offers an array of options for your ceremony. From ceremonies inside and out, the location boasts striking views, historic features as well as a relaxing atmosphere for you and your guests.
Probably the most iconic hotel in Cheltenham and situated opposite Cheltenham Town Hall, this venue is regency finest at its best. With it elegant rooms and opulent interiors, this is a luxurious town-centre venue for your intimate wedding.
This venue definitely has the ‘wow’ factor at the world-renowned Cheltenham Ladies College. With beautiful Gothic Victorian features, chandeliers and a magnificent (and aptly named) Princess Hall, this venue can cater for both large and small weddings.
